Fascinating Vietnam

Highlights include the wonders of Halong Bay, now listed as a World Heritage site, the capital city of Hanoi with its fascinating One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature. Continue to Hue, the Imperial City in the 18th and 19th centuries, Cham Museum and finish at the vibrant Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

 

Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Halong (L, D)

In the morning pick up at the airport or at the hotel in Hanoi and then transfer to Halong Bay - Journey east across Red River Provinces. Get on board to visit Halong Bay. Enjoy sunset. Have lunch and dinner onboard.

Overnight on board.

Day 2: Hanoi – Halong – Hanoi (B, L)

Enjoy Sunrise on the Bay. Continue to explore the Bay. Check-out, have lunch. Come back to Hanoi, on the way call on a ceramic village to see craftsmen do their works.

Free for dinner.

Overnight in Hotel, Hanoi.

Day 3: Hanoi (B, L)

Sightseeing Hanoi (5-7hrs) - Hanoi, a city of lakes, shaded boulevards and public parks, is the capital of Vietnam. Visit Ho Chi Minh Museum and mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake. Visit Ethnology Museum, the miniature of Vietnam with 54 ethnic groups. Take 1 hour cyclo tour to visit Old Street Quarter. Enjoy Water puppet show (recommended). Overnight in Hotel, Hanoi.

Alternative places to visit in Hanoi city tour day: Fine Arts Museum, History Museum, Military Museum, Saint Joseph Cathedral, Women Museum, Hoa Lo (Old prison for American POWs).

Day 4: HanoiHue (B, L, D)

Transfer for flight from Hanoi to Hue. Meet at the airport and transfer to hotel. Sightseeing Old Imperial City, Tu Duc Tomb and Khai Dinh Tomb. Having Royal feast and enjoy Royal music on boat (Perfume River).

Overnight in Hue.

Day 5: Hue – Hoian (B, L)

Travel by private vehicle from Hue to Danang - Journey south along Highway 1 past the Haivan Pass and Lang Co. Visit Cham Museum, Marble Mountain and China Beach. Arrive in Hoian, an ancient trading center, have lunch.

In the after noon visit tourist attractions in Hoian. Overnight in Hoian.

Typical tourist attractions in Hoian: Tan Ky Ancient House, Phuoc Kien Assembly Hall, Japanese covered bridge, Ong Pagoda, Tra Kieu Church.

Day 6: Danang - Ho Chi Minh City (B, L)

Transfer for morning flight to Danang for the flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Sightseeing Ho Chi Minh City and Cholon (Chinatown), Notre Dame Catheral, Central Post Office, City Hall, War Remnant Museum, Benthanh market, Binhtay market and Thien Hau Pagoda. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 7: Ho Chi Minh City (B, L)

Excursion to Tayninh: Visit the Caodai Great Temple, Nui Ba Den (Black Lady Mountain), which towers 850m above the surrounding plains. Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon: continue proceeding to Cuchi Tunnel. Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City and transfer directly to the airport for evening departure flight.
