At least 50 foreign participants have registered to take part in
the first parasailing competition to be held in Danang City in May.
Competitors for the event come from Japan, Argentina, South Korea, China, Spain,
UK, France and the US.
On February 14, the municipal authorities held a meeting with Shin Kake, General
Director of AiREA Consultancy Company, officials from Japan Paramotor
Association and CATI, an even organisation company in Danang, to discuss plans
for the organisation of Danang International Paramotor Race 2012 or DIPR201.
Than Ngoc Hai Cat, General Director of CATI, said the competition would be held
along a five kilometre stretch of coastline, running from Son Tra to Ngu Hanh
Son Districts during May 23-27.
“The parasail competitors will have three days from May 23-25 to show off their
performances before joining the official competition two days later,” Cat noted.
The organisation board estimates that they will need around VND15 billion
(USD718,046) to organise the competition, with funding coming in the form of
commercial sponsorship.
They will co-ordinate with Japanese communication firms to help promote the
event in the country as the competition is expected to attract a large number of
visitors, with up to 70% of the foreign visitors coming from Japan.
