Record number of foreigners visit Vietnam in January

Vietnam welcomed some 630,000 foreign visitors in January, estimated the General Statistics Office (GSO) and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
Most of Vietnam’s tourism markets experienced increases, with Cambodia topping the list (up 95 percent), followed by China (93.4 percent), Taiwan (65.3 percent), and the UK (39.7 percent).
This is a positive sign for Vietnam to fulfill its target of welcoming 6.5 million foreign visitors in 2012, despite economic difficulties facing the tourism sector.
In preparation for the festive season in Vietnam, travel agencies are offering unique festival tours of all parts of the nation.
